       Interview with the whole band

January 27th, 2004
E: The band Moneen is becoming more and more well-known as it gains an even greater fanbase... what sort of freedoms or burdens do you think popularity provides??
MONEEN: The freedom to travel anywhere... and play as many video games as we possibly can. A burden would be losing a bit of yourself every day and getting farther and farther away from your fans when you're onstage. Also, dealing with more business stuff related to the industry as time goes on. We all hate that stuff.
E: What inspires you to continue to work as musicians?
MONEEN: We have nothing else in life! (Except music, that is!)
E: Would you rather put out a great CD or play an awesome show?
MONEEN: Both! ("We want it all...")
E: Does touring contain any consistent rituals?
MONEEN: Ritual? Especially when we ritually get naked together before we play. It's the greatest!
E: How was adjusting to success--playing bigger shows with bigger bands like Taking Back Sunday, Saves the Day, and now Straylight Run and Brand New?
MONEEN: We get more food and stay a little healthier on tour now. [The bands] are all the greatest-- the TBS/STD tour was the best we've ever been on, and it wasn't so much because of the size of the venues or the amount of people at each show... it was because both bands are down-to-earth and amazing to hang out with.
E: What are your thoughts about going from a tour with Taking Back Sunday to one with the band Straylight Run, which consists of ex-TBS members?
MONEEN: We have friends, and friends are friends.
E: How is playing shows in whole other countries different from playing local shows?
MONEEN: It's not at a church. You meet lots of people with different accents and you get to meet people who will stick fried chicken down their pants.
E: What kind of food does a band get on the road?
MONEEN: Crap! Gas stations, Wendy's, Taco Bell, and Little Chef (in the U.K., every day.) Lots of fast food.
E: How does the typical musician differ from any other person?
MONEEN: They are dirtier and lack in the job department.
E: When the unfortunate time arrives and the band comes to an end, what do you each hope to have achieved?
MONEEN:
Hippy (Chris): Not much, but a thumbs-up would be cool.
Erik: To take as many people out with me [as possible].
Peter: As many head injuries as possible.
Kenny: Happiness, posterity, and to have created many stupid dances and to have violated everyone in the band.
E: One final question... are you really happy with who you are right now?
MONEEN: We don't know... what did we say in the song, again? What we do know is that we are really happy with what we are doing right now.
